NAPA's new Emerald Eco-Label tool provides a user-friendly, inexpensive way for contractors to create on-demand environmental product declarations (EPDs). EPDs quantify the environmental impact of an asphalt mix, much like a nutrition label provides information on a food. To learn more about what an EPD is, watch this video. "RAP: Stockpile Emissions and Leachate" (SR 190) As communities and increasingly regulatory agencies look at potential impacts associated with RAP stockpiles, this publication provides credible scientific studies which reinforces RAP's inert nature.

"RAP as a Clean Fill Material" (SR 204) provides information to assist regulatory agencies in understanding how to use RAP as clean fill material.

BLACK is the new GREEN!

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) has introduced two new publications, a sustainability report and a companion brochure. In announcing the new publications, NAPA President Mike Acott commented, "For decades, the asphalt pavement industry has been proactive in reducing the impact of its operations on the environment. The new report discusses some of the products we have developed – warm-mix asphalt, reuse/recycling, porous asphalt, and Perpetual Pavements – and shows how an accelerated deployment program could lead to even greater achievements." Click here to visit the National Asphalt Pavement Association website.
