NCAT Technology Course in Colorado

Overview: This 4- day training program, to be held on November 7 to 10, 2022, will be taught by NCAT Instructors and is geared for those who are involved with asphalt materials and construction. Engineers, Technicians both Lab and Field, Inspectors and others from all sectors of the asphalt industry need to become more knowledgeable of asphalt materials and construction practices in order to build, preserve, and maintain a sustainable highway system. This training will be a mirror of the week long training provided at the NCAT Facilities with the exception of a visit to the test track and Lee Road.
Goals and Objectives: The purpose of this intensive course is to provide a basic understanding of all phases of asphalt technology. Upon completion, the participant will be able to make knowledgeable decisions related to asphalt pavements and communicate effectively with asphalt specialists when the need arises.

APM Inspector Education Seminar
The LabCAT APM Inspector Certification may be attended as an “Information and Training Seminar”. Participants who register for this instruction are interested in APM Inspection, but do not need certification. Participants will be dismissed prior to the Inspector Certification written exam. Elements of Inspection Topics: Specifications, Surface Preparation, Materials Transfer, Sampling of Asphalt Mixtures, Paving Operations, Compaction Process, High Speed Inertial Profiling, and Mat Defects 

Introduction to PC/OA (PC = Process Control, OA =- Owners Acceptance) Testing
“Introduction to PC/OA (PC = Process Control, OA = Owners Acceptance) Testing” is an introductory course designed to teach current CDOT / AASHTO test procedures used in the quality control and quality assurance of asphalt materials, and in the placement of asphalt pavement. This training is useful for both entry level technicians who are preparing for asphalt technician certification, as well as for more seasoned technicians who may be re-entering the testing arena. Inspectors and Engineers who desire more knowledge about testing procedures, how they are to be carried out during a paving project, and basic information on how the test results may affect the quality of the pavement, will also benefit from this course.
