Upcoming Events and Training From CAPA and the RMAEC!

There are several Events and Training Sessions in the next few weeks and month

December 1 and 2, 2021, Wednesday and Thursday, Balanced Mix Design WorkshopThis 2 day training program will be led by NCAT personnel Adam Taylor, and Nathan Moore; for those who are involved with asphalt construction. Personnel from all sectors of the asphalt industry need to become more knowledgeable of asphalt materials and the Balanced Mixture Design Methods. This training will be focused for Consultants, Producers, CDOT, Local Agencies and anybody in the business of designing or approving Asphalt Mix Designs. This training will be held in Brannan Sand and Gravel's Training Room, 5880 Lipan, Denver, CO 80216. Registration is required as space is limited. Cost for Industry is $285. Industry personnel use this link to register. CDOT employees need to register through Michael Stanford, Asphalt Program Manager. 

December 10, 2021, Friday, Asphalt Industry Forum Meeting #2, Baldoria on the Water in Lakewood, 146 Van Gordan Street,, Lakewood, CO 80228. This is the second of 4 AIF meetings to be held in the fall, of 2021, Winter and Spring of 2022. This meeting will provide progress on any Quick Action Team or Task force updates. The AIF is an open meeting for any and all to attend. his meeting will be followed by the CAPA New Member Recognition Luncheon. The New Member Luncheon is by reservation only and is event where we acknowledge our new members from 2021, Present the Proctor of the Year and announce the recipients of the NCAT Scholarships, for persons to attend the NCAT Technology Course in 2022. (Applications for the NCAT Scholarships can be obtained here). The New Member Luncheon will be followed by the Annual CAPA Christmas Party until 3:00pm. February 9, 2022, Wednesday, "Best in Colorado" Asphalt Pavement Awards Dinner and Presentation. The awards for the Best of the Best in Asphalt Paving Projects from 2021 will be announced at the dinner on February 9, 2022. The Dinner will be held at the National Western Complex beginning at 6:30pm. The dinner will follow the closing of the 48th annual Rocky Mountain Asphalt Conference and Equipment Show. More details will be forthcoming in the near future of how to sponsor, register and attend the "Best in Colorado" Asphalt Pavement Awards

The Women of Asphalt

The Women of Asphalt Colorado is looking for that special person to give our annual award to.  This year is the first year we are doing this and are planning on making it an annual award.  The award will be presented at the CAPA Award Dinner in early February.This is an annual award going to an outstanding lady in the asphalt industry.  This person shows leadership, teamwork and supports others around them.  Please tell us about this person and why they should receive the award. Please use the link below. Nominations will be accepted until December 20, 2021.

The Colorado Branch of Women of Asphalt continues to build membership and activities. The upcoming meetings and activities are; December will bring an in person Christmas party. It will be held Thursday December 16, 2021 and will be held in the RMAEC Training room from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. It will also be broadcast via zoom for those members and guests who may be in the other parts of the state but still want to participate via zoom. We would encourage the members from the other parts of the state to gather in one location and join the front range group in celebrating the Christmas season. The zoom link for this meeting is here.

Upcoming events. The Women of Asphalt Training Academy will kick off in the first quarter of 2022. The location and content will be decided in December or January. The Women of Asphalt Colorado will have a big presence at the 46th annual Rocky Mountain Asphalt Conference and equipment Show February 8 and 9, 2022 which will be held at the National Western Complex in the Hall of Educations. There will be a short presentation at the opening session and an break out session to follow. We will have a booth to sign pole up or just to say hi. 

The Women of Asphalt is open to all who want to be part of the effort to Lead and Inspire women in the our industry. This includes Men and Women. Contact any of the Board Members to get more information.

The Board is still formulating and seeking input for ideas for the start of the Training Academy and for future events for this group.
