THERMAL SEGREGATION SPECIFICATION FINALIZED
The final version of the Thermal Segregation Specification has been approved by CDOT and will be used as standard special on all HMA/SMA projects next year.
CDOT AGREES TO RAP SPECIFICATION CHANGE
One significant accomplishment of the joint CAPA/CDOT Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) Task Force was to address how to handle mix problems on projects that use RAP. It was agreed to treat the RAP as virgin aggregate and eliminate the specification requirement that contractors have only one chance to run in the red with a RAP mix design before having to revert back to an all virgin mix. This change was approved by the CDOT Materials Advisory Committee (MAC) and will be implemented by CDOT. For additional information on the progress of the RAP Task Force, click here.
